Interesting negotiation technique: show one side of the argument a path to what they want by doing nothing. Masterful.
There was never much hope of progress unless Trump were to threaten Russia in a serious way which he won't do intentionally.
Ironically he may be hurting Russia's imperial efforts accidentally by causing oil prices to fall by screwing world trade with his tariffs.
